In 2004, Kohl’s asked SGA to help them with their first projects in the State of Florida. They asked us to get involved because they knew we had extensive experience in that state. Over the next few years, we prepared documents for dozens of projects in Florida and several other states as part of their national site adapt/multi-project rollout. In 2006, based on our success with the site-adapt work and because of our experience with managing prototypes for other retailers, Kohl’s transferred their prototype program to SGA. From 2006 until 2014, SGA successfully updated and improved existing prototype documents and developed prototype documents for brand new concepts. We also developed criteria prototype documents for the Kohl’s remodel program and helped them migrate from ACAD to Revit. When Kohl’s decided to pursue sustainability within their design & construction program, they turned to SGA as the subject-matter expert. One of our proudest accomplishments was leading the effort to help Kohl’s achieve USGBC LEED certification for their prototypes.
